TanabataIt was hot, on the roof, the heat had been storing there all day in the tiles. There hadn't been a cloud in the sky, which was unusual, and the night was just as clear. Even with the light pollution of a city around them, there were thousands of stars, sprayed across the sky in a frozen fireworks display that, at least in Renji's mind, outdid the man-made thing.Tanabata
Rukia had been smart enough to grab three blankets to lay, one on top of the other, on the tiles after Renji had burnt his hand. It wasn't much of a burn, a prickle really, but it gave her something to tease him about.

"It's a maze," Renji pointed out. "That's kinda the point."
She laughed in little puffs of frosty breath. She was wrapped in every bit of warm clothing that she could find; standing over her, all he could see was the tip of her nose and a few wisps of black hair peeping out from the fur-lined hood of her coat. Rukia was not a woman that liked being cold.

"For once," Renji repeated.
"Two words," Ichigo said. "Steak house."
Renji snorted. "I've got two of my own," he said. "Jelly pie."
"That was Inoue's idea."
